The 20 Best PS5 Games Confirmed & Rumored for Release
The list of PS5 games and figures mentioned below have been compiled from various sources around the web, such as Tom’s Guide, Tech Radar and T3.
These are the 20 best PS5 games confirmed & rumored for release:
20. Ratchet & Clank – (Rumored)
First up on our list is Ratchet & Clank.
This PS5 video game is a third-person shooter and an action platformer.
The Ratchet & Clank Franchise was created and developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for previous PlayStation models, like the PlayStation 2, 3 and 4.
The game follows Ratchet, a feline-humanoid mechanic, and Clank, a Zoni robot, as they travel the universe saving it from the consistent threat of evil.
It’s rumored that Insomniac Games is working on a new Ratchet & Clank game that will be released with the PlayStation 5 console. However, this is just a rumor for now and nothing has been officially confirmed!
19. Horizon Zero Dawn 2 – (Rumored)
Horizon Zero Dawn is an action role-playing game released for the Playstation 4 in 2017 and developed by Guerilla Games.
It was one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games ever, selling over 10 million copies by February 2019, which makes it pretty obvious that a sequel is needed, right?
Well, nothing has been confirmed as of yet, however, one of the games voice artists decided to spill the beans earlier this year, which pretty much confirms the sequel!
So, it’s a pretty safe bet to say that Horizon Zero Dawn 2 will be released on the PS5 for sure as the new console will be released later this year!
18. Dying Light 2 – (Rumored)
The next upcoming PlayStation 5 game that’s rumored to be released is Dying Light 2.
This survival horror action role-playing game is the widely anticipated sequel to 2015’s, Dying Light.
If you’re into parkour, then you’re going to love this one. Player’s control Aiden Caldwell, who’s a massive parkour enthusiast, and use his skills to avoid zombie attacks. However, the attacks are a lot more difficult at night as the zombies become more hostile than in the daylight.
We’re not sure exactly when Dying Light 2 is going to be released, however, a little birdy told us that it’s looking likely that it will be in the latter part of 2020!
17. Ghost of Tsushima – (Rumored)
Ghost of Tsushima is the next upcoming PlayStation 5 release on our list.
It’s an action-adventure game, which is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 4 on June 6, 2020.
However, it’s highly likely that we’ll either see it on the PS5 first, and skip the PS4 completely, or we’ll see an enhanced PS5 port a short time after it’s release.
Players control one of the last Samurai on Tsushima Island, Jin Sakai, during the first Mongol Invasion of Japan in the 1270s. The game is open-world and has an abundance of terrain to explore.
The game was developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
16. The Elder Scrolls VI – (Rumored)
The Elder Scrolls is a series of action role-playing games that focus on free-form gameplay in a highly detailed open world.
The game was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks.
Previous titles in the series, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, all won Game of the Year awards from multiple vendors.
So, as the series has sold more than 58 million copies worldwide to date, you can expect the successor to be pretty darn good as it’s got some pretty big shoes to fill.
15. The Last of Us: Part 2 – (Rumored / Cross-Platform)
The Last of Us: Part 2 is a highly anticipated action-adventure game set seven years after, The Last of Us.
It’s developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the Playstation 4.
However, we strongly suspect that is will be a cross-generation title, as releasing one of its most eagerly anticipated titles on a console that’s coming to the end of its life cycle, seems slightly odd!
In case you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s played in third-person and you control Ellie, a 19-year-old girl who’s faced with having to deal with a mysterious cult in post-apocalyptic America. You’ll be able to use all kinds of awesome weapons to defend Ellie and stay alive.
It’s incredibly likely that once released, it will become one of the best PS5 games by a long run, but we’ll have to wait and see!
14. Final Fantasy VII (Remake) – (Rumored / Cross Gen)
Next up, we have Final Fantasy VII the remake.
Not yet a confirmed released for the PS5, Final Fantasy VII has, however, been confirmed for release on the PS4, which makes the odds of it being a cross-generation title, super high.
The upcoming action-role playing game is developed and published by Square Enix.
It’s a remake of 1997, Final Fantasy VII, and is planned to be released as a multi-part series, with the first confirmed part being released on April 10, 2020, on the Playstation 4.
13. God of War II – (Rumored)
God of War II is an action-adventure PlayStation game that was developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.
Due to the success of the original God of War, it’s highly likely that the sequel will be released to coincide with the launch of the PlayStation 5.
However, dates have yet to be confirmed which actually makes a PS5 release even more likely, as the console is due to be released somewhere in the last quarter of 2020.
So, if Ancient Greece, Gods and the underworld is your thing, then grab yourself a PS5 when it’s released and get yourself a copy of the GOW II, as this is a game for you!
12. Grand Theft Auto 6 – (Rumored)
Grand Theft Auto is a highly successful action-adventure video game series, developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games.
The series has been a massive success, earning critical acclaim and selling over 280 million units worldwide, which makes it the fourth highest-selling video-game franchise of all time.
As we’re yet to hear a confirmed release date, it’s pretty much guaranteed that GTA 6 will be released on the new PlayStation 5 console, but only time will tell.
11. Cyberpunk 2077 – (Confirmed / Cross Gen)
The eleventh PlayStation 5 game on our list is Cyberpunk 2077.
This is one of the most widely anticipated PlayStation games and is due for release on the Playstation 4 in September 2020, approximately five months after its original April release date that was pushed back.
The upcoming role-playing video game takes place in Dystopian Night City, an open-world with six unique areas. Players control a mercenary in the first-person perspective and acquire different skills, weapons and objectives as the game goes on.
Cyberpunk was developed and published by CD Projekt and applies the REDengine 4 game engine.
10. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – (Confirmed / Cross Gen)
Coming in at number 10 on our list of confirmed and rumored PS5 releases is Call of Duty: Black Ops 5.
The game is going to be the fifth instalment in the Call of Duty series and more than likely a cross-platform release.
It’s looking likely that it will be set during the Cold War time period and released in the fall, to coincide perfectly with the new PlayStation 5 console!
9. Battlefield 6 – (Confirmed)
Battlefield 6 is the next PS5 game on our list that’s confirmed for release.
Electronic Arts (EA) has already confirmed that’s its next Battlefield will be released on the PlayStation 5, however, we’re not sure exactly when.
Battlefield is a series of first-person shooter games that first came on the scene in 2002. Since then, there’s been a number of different titles released in the series, many of which have been very successful.
The game is developed by EA DICE and published by American Arts.
You can expect to see the classic Battlefield destructive environments and gameplay in number 6, but as and when it will be released, is still a mystery!
8. The Lord of The Rings: Gollum – (Confirmed)
Confirmed for release in March 2019, The Lord of The Rings: Gollum is likely to hit stores in 2021, as a statement from the games German Developer, Daedalic Entertainment, said it will release on PC and “all relevant console platforms at that time”.
Daedalic CEO and Co-Founder, Carsten Fichtelmann, revealed that “we have the story that we all know from the book, but everything that happens to him before he appears in the book are the main things we’ll see in our game. We will tell the story before he first appears in the book”.
So, there you have you it, the CEO made it pretty clear what the game is going to be about, we’ll just have to wait and see how it pans out on the PS5!
7. Watch Dogs: Legion – (Confirmed)
Buy it now on Amazon – https://amzn.to/2JDz4qx
Watch Dogs: Legion is an upcoming action-adventure game, which will be the third installment in the WatchDog series.
The game was developed by Ubisoft Toronto and published by Ubisoft. It’s set in a fictional representation of London, playable from a third-person perspective, and utilises an open-world design.
After an initially confirmed release date of March 2020, at E3 2019, the game has now been delayed and is likely to be released anywhere between the next financial year, which runs from April 2020 to April 2021.
This slight delay makes it even more likely that it will be launched on the PlayStation 5 instead of cross-platform. Time will tell.
6. Rainbow Six Quarantine – (Confirmed)
Rainbow Six is a tactical shooter video game developed and published by Red Storm Entertainment.
Quarantine was confirmed during Ubisoft’s presentation at E3 2019 but was not given an official release date. However, it has been delayed, so we imagine that it will be released sometime in the next financial year, not long after its planned release date.
Again, like other PS5 games on the list, this could actually make things better for PlayStation 5 fans, as it’s a lot more likely that it will launch on the PS5 now instead of on the PS4!
5. Gods And Monsters – (Confirmed)
Due to hit sometime in 2020, an official release date is yet to be confirmed, Gods And Monsters is yet another title from Ubisoft that’s likely to be released on the Playstation 5 as its release date has been pushed back.
Of what we know, it looks like players will be able to take control of an unnamed female hero and battle against mythological creatures in Ancient Greece.
If this is Ubisoft’s answer to the legend of Zelda, then we’re all for it as it could easily become one of the best PS5 games, and appeal to a wide audience!
Expect it sometime in Q1 2021!
4. Rainbow Six Siege – (Confirmed / Cross Gen)
This online tactical shooter video game has a great reputation and could become one of the best PS5 games in 2020.
Windows Central confirmed that it’s planning for Rainbow Six Siege to be available on launch day, which has yet been clarified, however, it’s confirmed, so it’s definitely being released on the PS5.
Ubisoft also mentioned that the game will support cross-generational multiplayer, which means PS5 owners will be able to play with anyone using a PS4.
If it’s anything like the rest of the Rainbow Six games, it’ll be well worth the wait for sure!
3. Gothic – (Confirmed)
Gothic is a full remake of the original 2001 video game, and one of the most well-known RPGs on the planet.
THQ Nordic released a playable demonstration on December 13, 2019, which was well-received by critics and gave fans something to look forward to.
It’s still very early days in the game’s development, so don’t expect to see it anytime soon.
However, Gothic is more than likely going to be released in 2021, but don’t quote us on that!
2. Outriders – (Confirmed)
Buy it now on Amazon – https://amzn.to/3jWmhMj
The second-best PS5 game to be confirmed for release is Outriders.
This upcoming third-person shooter is looking likely to be released late 2020, as People Can Fly and Square Enix confirmed the game will land on the PS5 platform in the “Holiday 2020”, which is between October and December.
The third person-shooter is described as being “a c0-op RPG shooter for a new generation” and players are required to choose their custom characters, from three different classes, and use customized weapons to combat both human and monsters.
We don’t have a ton of information about the game yet, but, from what we do know, it’s going to be awesome!
1. Godfall – (Confirmed)
Buy it now on Amazon – https://amzn.to/3jTCm5m
The best PS5 game confirmed for release is Godfall.
Announced at the Game Awards 2019, Godfall will be released on the PlayStation 5 somewhere during late 2020; but an official release date has not been mentioned.
Godfall is an action role-playing game which was developed by Counterplay Games and published by Gearbox Publishing.
It’s bringing with it a new type of video game genre, “loot-slasher”, which developers are saying rewards gamers for playing well, instead of just talentlessly grinding to progress through the game.
So, without a specific release date, but 100% confirmed by Gearbox, we should expect to be playing Godfall on the PS5 sometime in the “Holiday Season”.
