What are the best PS5 boxing games?
Boxing games have seen an uptick in popularity in recent years, and while the genre isn’t as prominent as others, this is poised to change in the future.
However, while the PS5 isn’t overflowing with incredible boxing games, some are definitely still worth playing.
Today, we’re looking at the best boxing games on the PS5 so that you can easily find your next favorite!
The Best PS5 Boxing Games
We played through all of the boxing games available on the PS5 to find the ones we think are the most worth picking up.
Each game has been selected based on its gameplay, engagement, how fun they are to play, and overall reviews from other players.
So, pick your corner, and let’s knock out our list of the best PS5 boxing games:
8. Pato Box
Kicking off our list we have Pato Box, an incredibly fun game with an awesome inky blank and white art style.
Oh, and it also involves humanoid ducks, one of which you will be playing as! Seriously, this game is amazing.
As this humanoid duck, you will have to fight your way through an evil corporation in order to unearth its darkest secrets.
While the world looks like a comic book, it is entirely 3D, but it also features surrealist 2D boss battles for an extra challenge.
The world is also filled with traps and mini-games you can find, as well as hidden collectibles that can reveal additional secrets.
If you need a break from the story, you can head to arcade mode and try to defeat all of the bosses as quickly as possible.
You can take them on one at a time or all in a row, which will unlock a special boss fight at the end!
7. EA Sports UFC 4
This mixed martial arts game boasts over 229 different fighters which players can use during various matches.
There is a career mode that acts kind of like an onboarding experience, teaching players the basics of boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, and jiujitsu.
In this mode, the goal is to create a custom fighter and become the greatest fighter of all time!
Throughout this mode, players can choose to accept or decline different fights, though this will impact their career development.
Players can also jump into multiplayer mode, where they can take on other players around the world or their friends.
While EA Sports UFC 4 isn’t strictly limited to boxing, it is incredibly fun to play and it gives you a lot of freedom to experiment.
Along with being one of the best PS4 boxing games, UFC 4 shines on the PS5 where its graphics and gameplay are smoother than ever!
6. Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game
If you’ve ever had dreams of being in the Olympic games, you definitely won’t want to miss out on this!
This game has a little bit of something for everyone, and its variety makes it something you can easily play for hours.
Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 has 18 different sporting events that you can choose from, including boxing, basketball, tennis, and football.
There are always new records to break as you try to claim the gold medal for yourself!
The character customization is also excellent and very in-depth, allowing you to edit every body part and choose from roughly 60 different voices.
We have to praise the graphics too, because the Japanese stadiums really come to life in this game, especially on the PS5.
You can easily spend a ton of time playing through everything this game has to offer.
In online mode, there are three ranked games that rotate every 30 minutes that allow you to compete directly against other players.
This game is absolutely fantastic and it’s just as fun as the best PS5 FPS games, if not more so!
5. Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions
This game throws players into the world of Rocky Balboa with intuitive controls that allow you to jump in and start playing.
Creed Champions boasts some of the most robust boxing mechanics of any game in the genre, and it allows for dynamic combos and styles.
Big Rumble Boxing gives you the opportunity to fight as 20 iconic characters from the Creed and Rocky movies.
It also has unlockable characters and outfits that will become available as you progress.
Matches can take place in 13 classic and original boxing rings, and you can even challenge your friends in a head-to-head match.
If that wasn’t enough, every character has their own unique finishers and cinematic knockouts.
While it is a bit of a button masher, it is by far one of the best multiplayer PS5 games to play with friends.
Seriously, you can spend hours just taking each other on trying to see who is the best in the ring!
4. Knockout League
Knockout League is a boxing game designed to whip you into shape, and forces you to be as involved as possible.
Created for VR, this arcade-style game is all about entering the ring and knocking out whoever dares to challenge you.
In virtual reality, you can go one-on-one with your opponents, dishing out uppercuts, jabs, and lead hooks.
However, opponents aren’t just generic boxers. Instead, you can expect to eventually take on things like an octopus and a pirate.
What we really love about this game is it makes you feel like the protagonist of one of the best boxing anime series by giving you full control.
You have no choice but to get up on your feet to dodge, weave, and throw punches in order to become the champion.
Sure, it looks really strange to anyone watching you basically shadowboxing in your bedroom, but in-game you’ll feel like a badass!
3. Undisputed
Undisputed is one of the most realistic boxing games you can play on the PS5 and it feels like you’re controlling a real match instead of playing a game.
Although this game is still in early access, it is already one of the most impressive boxing games we’ve played.
In this game, the mechanics are insane. There are over 60 types of punches and various footwork patterns.
Players can also choose from 50 different attributes and traits that determine the abilities and styles of their fighters.
Currently, there are 50 licensed professional boxers you can play as, and more are planned to be added in the future.
Some of the current characters include Muhammad, Sugar Ray Robinson, Tyson Fury, and Terence Crawford.
Women’s Division stars such as Natasha Jones and Jessica McCaskill have also been included!
Everything about Undisputed has been designed to be as immersive as possible, including realistic damage, facial deformation, and progressive sweat.
Given that the game is this great and it’s still in early access, we can’t wait to see what the full finished product looks like!
2. Creed: Rise To Glory
Set in the world of Rocky Balboa, this game gives players control of Adonis Creed as he goes head-to-head with the world’s best boxers.
There are several different modes in this game, including, a story-driven career mode, a mini-game-like training mode, and customizable free-play.
If you want to challenge your friends, you can create a custom fight in online PvP mode or be paired with another player in a quick match.
While playing against other players is awesome, we really love the story in this game as you get to have Rocky coaching you along the way.
Like Knockout League, Rise to Glory is also compatible with VR, so you can experience every match up close and personal.
What’s more, is that this game actually rewards you for strategizing and dodging blows, something that many boxing games often overlook.
When playing in VR, the hit detection is also superb, so when you throw a punch you can trust that it’s actually going to land!
Creed: Rise to Glory is definitely one of the best PS5 simulation games for boxing fans, and we’re totally addicted to it.
1. BoxVR
Taking our number one spot is BoxVR, which is a ludicrously fun game that will keep you wanting to play for hours.
This game functions a bit like Beat Saber, with over 20 hours of content for you to enjoy while getting one hell of a workout.
In the base game, there are over 150 music tracks from a variety of genres and you can even upload your own music and create custom levels!
The goal of this game is to clear levels by punching incoming orbs in the direction indicated while also dodging blocks.
As we said, it’s a lot like Beat Saber, only you’re using your fists instead of duel light swords.
BoxVR will really make you break a sweat and it is the best boxing game on PS5 for anyone who wants to feel like a badass!
Plus, it’s even been found to reduce stress in adolescents which makes this game even more incredible!
Summary
We hope you’ve enjoyed our list of the best PS5 boxing games and found some you can’t wait to try!
