Greetings, cherished Soartex Fanver users.
As you have probably observed, there haven’t been any updates from us in a while. I, along with the devs, apologise for this, and I’ll explain what’s been happening behind the scenes during the past three years.
After two of the Pack’s key creators left to work on their own pack at the three-year mark, minor concerns began to arise. (This was agreed upon and had no results), but one of the former pack maintainers stayed around to assist with updates, and to be honest, they were a huge help. The development of the pack had to be abandoned when their lives became too busy due to education and other obligations.
For Twitch, I started working on a modpack that has grown in popularity and required additional time to develop. Due to other obligations and a job that required far more time than was actually necessary, I found that I had to skip working on Fanver most nights. I recently signed a contract with a US company to occasionally work on site-related tasks.
The current pack maintainer lead, Valsis, (the only one at the time), who had worked on the pack alone since version 1.7 (which is an outstanding performance in and of itself), required time away from the pack at the same time. Valsis had to take a break after the World of Colors Update (1.12) was made available since her personal life and health came first. Personally, I wanted her to take the time she needed to resolve her issue in order to return revitalized and ready to take on another major challenge (cause all of them to pose challenges).
Yet regardless of their circumstances, we are developing the pack as a pastime and have never been required to work on it nonstop. We’ve been fortunate that the 1.13 update took as long as it did since we all had jobs (some full-time) and other obligations to focus on. Hopefully, this means that we will be back together as a team to finish the upgrade.
Along with “The World of Colors” (1.12), which experienced some delays in development but was eventually finished and distributed, “The Update Exploration Update” (1.11) was issued with few problems.
Already, the Update “Update Aquatic” (1.13) has undergone some modifications. There is still a ton of work to be done, so I can’t expect Lea to finish it all by herself like I, regrettably, did with Valsis. Instead, we have an outstanding user named Lea who has contributed greatly to correcting and building models for the pack as well as adding new textures here and there. Nonetheless, we grow from our errors.
Now that it’s late August (as of this writing), we’re still far from a release that will include the new textures and address the update’s problems (Thank you Mojang). I don’t want to put any pressure on Lea, our lone active developer, to create the textures (I learned from my mistakes). I personally lack the spare time to produce the needed components, and the pack’s current main developer, Valsis, is also unable to help with further development at this moment despite having shown a desire to do so. But most importantly, I don’t want to pressure her into coming back because, in my honest opinion, her personal life comes first. I’m hopeful she will return and help Fanver be great again.
As of right now, we don’t anticipate the Update Aquatic (1.13) being released until the pack is finished in its entirety. We might be able to get it out eventually, but there’s a chance it will disappear. The licensing for the pack and the project itself will make this problematic and difficult. In that case, the project would be made available to the public on a controlled repository with a list of all its assets.
Don’t worry; I’m doing my best to find some free time to work on the pack so that I can release an update, and as I know Valsis would be doing the same if she could at this time, I’m hanging onto it until she can return.
TL;DR: Fanver is not “dead,” but rather still sleeping as the creators reunite to resume work on the pack. We will distribute the pack to the public as soon as we have a version that we are comfortable publishing. Yet nothing will be made available at the moment.
