What are the best Hogwarts Legacy mods?

Hogwarts Legacy may be the magical adventure that every Potterhead has dreamed of, but it’s far from perfect.

Fortunately, the modding community has worked its magic and created no shortage of great mods that transform this game.

Today, we’re taking a dive into the Wizarding World of Hogwarts Legacy mods to find out which ones are the absolute best!

The 10 Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods

Modders have been hard at work creating fixes, overhauls, and new content for Hogwarts Legacy, but some mods have become more popular than others.

The ones we’ve selected have been chosen based on their ratings, stability, and how much they improve gameplay.

So, before you depart for Platform 9 3/4, enjoy our list of the 10 best Hogwarts Legacy Mods:

10. The Elder Wand

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods The Elder Wand

Kicking off our list is a mod that unlocks the ability to use the most powerful wand ever created!

The Elder Wand mod makes it possible to choose this wand as your own, and it also replaces any character wands that lack handles with this model.

Unfortunately, this mod doesn’t provide you with any additional damage boosts, as it is purely cosmetic.

That said, the Elder Wand has the coolest design of any wand in the game, in our opinion, so even with a buff, it’s awesome to have.

Sure, it won’t make you as strong as some of the best Harry Potter characters, but you’ll be able to look really badass when casting spells!

Hopefully, a mod will add the full capabilities of the Elder Wand in the future, but until then, we’re more than happy with this!

9. Thomas Broom

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods Thomas Broom

Like one of the best Skyrim mods that turns all of the dragons into Thomas the Tank Engine, this mod does the same, but with your broom!

Thomas is a staple of many joke mods across numerous games, so, of course, the modding community had to add him to Hogwarts Legacy.

When you have this mod installed, instead of zooming around Hogwarts on your broom, you will now soar through the skies in a mighty blue locomotive!

This mod isn’t for those who want to take their next playthrough seriously, but we had to include it because it is hilarious.

Of course, if you do want something more serious, you can check out the Dragonogryff mod, by the same creator, that turns all hippogriffs into dragons.

So, whether you want to ride around in a train or on the back of a mighty dragon, you have options!

That said, don’t get too attached to Thomas right off the bat because we have another broom mod coming up that’s even more hilarious!

8. Autohomora

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods Autohomora

Taking inspiration from the best Fallout games, Hogwarts Legacy has its own lockpicking minigame, and it can be incredibly frustrating.

While this mechanic was a little entertaining at first, it quickly wore out its welcome, and now the sight of a locked door causes us to die a little inside.

Fortunately, we weren’t the only ones, which is why modder VTLI created the Autohomora mod, which automatically finishes the minigame for you!

Now, no matter what the difficulty of the lock is, you can automatically bypass the minigame with just a wave of your wand.

While we understand why the lockpicking minigame exists for gameplay reasons, we don’t feel bad for modding it out.

After all, as a student of Hogwarts, we should totally be able just to cast spells and open locks easily!

If you’re as frustrated by this minigame as we are, do yourself a favor and download this mod before your next session.

7. Facial Hair

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods Facial Hair

Sure, you may play as a 16-year-old in Hogwarts Legacy, but that shouldn’t mean you can’t rock some sweet facial hair.

Whether you want to pretend you hit puberty early or want to RP as a young version of one of the best bearded anime characters, this mod gives you the option!

There are several types of facial hair provided by this mod, ranging from full beards to mustaches and muttonchops.

Although it may be a bit awkward in-game, especially since you can basically look like Bear Grylls surrounded by baby-faced teens, this mod definitely is fun!

When you download this mod, you will have to select the type of beard you want, and it will then replace the Mad Eye Goggles, which can be found by looting containers.

Although this mod doesn’t add a facial hair option directly to the character creation menu, it is the only current way to give your character any facial hair.

While this may not be the most realistic mod, in a world where brooms fly, and fireplaces are teleporters, who’s to say teenagers can’t have full beards?!

6. Arachnophobia

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods Arachnophobia Mode

If you’re anything like Ron Weasley, the spiders in Hogwarts Legacy are probably more terrifying than any troll, and it doesn’t help that there are so many varieties of them!

Fortunately, this arachnophobia mod changes the game so that you never have to worry about meeting one of those eight-legged freaks ever again.

When this mod is installed, all of the spiders in Legacy will be replaced with terrifying plain red boxes that slide around the map… ominously.

Even the signs warning about spiders have been replaced with signs warning players about dangerous boxes, and we kind of love it.

Now, we’re not even that scared of spiders, but we really enjoyed playing around with this mod because it’s kind of hilarious.

We also like that this mod replaces the spiders with something as innocuous as boxes, as opposed to something that really stands out in the game.

For example, there is another arachnophobia mod that replaces them with kawaii hamburgers, but we felt this was just a bit too immersion-breaking.

While many games now include an arachnophobia safe mode, we still prefer using mods like this because often times they’re much more fun!

5. Smaller UI

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods Smaller UI

Hogwarts Legacy may be one of the best open-world PS5 games, but when you’re playing on a PC close to the monitor, the UI really doesn’t need to be so large!

Sure, it makes sense if you’re playing on a TV that’s further away, but on a computer, it can really stand to be scaled down just a bit.

As the name suggests, that is exactly what this mod does, and it’s an absolute must-have, in our opinion.

With this mod installed, the UI will be scaled down so that it doesn’t take up as much of your screen, allowing you to have a better view of the world.

This Smaller UI mod also makes the size of all UI elements smaller, so the menus will also be scaled down, not just the HUD.

Since Legacy is such a gorgeous game, it’s definitely worth being able to see more of it, which is one reason why we love this mod.

So, unless you’re a fancy PC gamer who has a rig connected to a TV where you can sit back and play from your couch, this mod is a must-have.

Of course, if you are playing your PC games from your couch, we’re also extremely jealous.

4. Shrek Broom

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods Shrek Broom

Okay, so we can explain. While searching the Nexus for mods to add to our list, we came across this gem and had to try it out.

Let’s just say that if you thought riding around in Thomas the Tank Engine was funny, taking to the skies on the back of T-posing Shrek will have you absolutely rolling.

This mod is absolutely ridiculous, but it’s also become one of our favorite things in the entire game, and you can’t not laugh whenever you hop on your trusty ogre.

There is something truly special about being able to soar around Hogwarts, making all the other students jealous.

With this mod, Hogwarts Legacy easily becomes one of the best Harry Potter games of all time, especially if you love having a good laugh.

Trust us when we say that you definitely won’t regret downloading this mod for yourself.

3. Mouse Controls For Broom

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods Mouse Controls For Broom

Once you’ve settled on a broom mod to download, you may want to check out this one that makes flying a lot easier.

In the vanilla version of this game, you control your broom using your keyboard, but this often feels clunky to some players.

While this mod allows you to continue using the keyboard controls, it also makes it possible to control your broom with your mouse!

When you have this mod installed, you can fully control your broom using only your mouse, and you can choose from normal or inverted controls.

Something that we really love about this mod is that it seems to make flying feel a lot more fluid and precise.

With the keyboard controls, we would often smack into a lot of things while trying to make tight turns, but with a mouse, precise movement is much easier.

If you also think that the vanilla flying controls are dreadful, don’t waste any more time with them and upgrade to this great mod!

2. Ascendio

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods Ascendio II

Ascendio is an unofficial FLP hotfix that works to rectify performance issues and make Legacy run as smoothly as possible.

While Legacy is one of the most graphically demanding PC games, even some of the most powerful rigs can have trouble running this game.

What this mod does is set a series of custom engine tweaks that are designed to reduce stuttering and FPS drops that this game is prone to.

The exact tweaks that it implements can be manually chosen when you install the mod, giving you a lot of control over what is changed.

Although this won’t completely remove the issues, they will mitigate them well enough that you’ll see a marked difference in how Legacy runs.

If you do not see the type of performance you want, you can always change your installation settings to add additional tweaks.

We highly recommend checking this mod out if you’ve been having trouble with a lot of stuttering or random FPS drops.

These issues can be incredibly frustrating, especially given how gorgeous this game is, but thankfully, this mod solves (most) of the problems!

1. NPC Schedule Enhanced

Best Hogwarts Legacy Mods NPC Schedule Enhanced

Taking our number one spot is a mod that really makes the world of Hogwarts Legacy feel alive and thriving!

If you’ve come to Legacy after playing games like The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion or Red Dead Redemption 2, then you’re probably surprised by how lifeless the NPCs are.

This mod takes inspiration from games like these and aims to make the Wizarding World feel much more dynamic and engaging.

NPC Schedule Enhanced does a ton of things, namely, making NPCs act more realistic and less like the pre-programmed bots they are.

With this mod installed, students will attend classes at set times, professors will walk the halls at night, and vendors will close up shop and go home at 10 pm.

Moreover, NPCs will actually have to walk to their destinations and can’t just teleport as soon as they’re out of sight.

What’s really impressive about this mod is that it adds a fluid schedule that even includes rotating classes that are different for every house.

Khione95 has really thought of everything, and if you want to transform your next Hogwarts Legacy playthrough, look no further than this mod!

Summary
