What Is The Just Enough Items Mod?
This modification allows players to not only view items in Minecraft in a way that is much easier than it was prior, but it also enables the players to view recipes for crafting in the game. The mod was created, built from the ground up, and it focuses on enhancing stability and performance in the game. It will give the player the option to see the recipes, the uses, crafting availability, and more. This mod is easier to use than many of its predecessors, like the Not Enough Items Mod and the Too Many Items Mod.
Utilizing JEI
After installation, JEI ought to function automatically. To test it, press E to open your inventory. On the right side, you should see a complete list of recipes. Make careful to restart Minecraft if you don’t, as the mod won’t be operating if you don’t.
To use the mod, simply hit the “R” key when your cursor is over any item in the UI to display the recipe. To find an item’s uses instead, press “U” while hovering over it. If you’re unsure of an item’s usage, consider where it appears in another recipe. Wood planks, for instance, are utilized in numerous recipes for items like boats, chests, and more.
By using CTRL + O, you can always conceal the JEI interface. To search through all of the things in Minecraft, use the search box at the bottom of JEI. Instead, you can enter the settings by clicking the button in the bottom right corner of Minecraft if you wish to customize the mod.
JEI Controls
There aren’t a lot of controls for JEI. Although you should still learn them, as they’ll help you navigate through the mod much faster. You’ll only need to remember a few:
- View Recipe R
- See Uses: U
- Hide JEI: CTRL + O
- Next/Previous Page: Scroll Wheel
- Search: CTRL + F
- Clear Search: Right Mouse Button
- Bookmark Item: A
(JEI)
Everything that is boxed in yellow is added by the mod Just Enough Items. Each block and item in the modpack can be found on the right. By default, the crafting instructions for any item are shown when you click it or hover your cursor over it and press R.
When viewing an item, press R to view its recipe.
On the left of this menu, you can see everything that you can craft that recipe in. At the top, you can see all the different methods it can be crafted. Click the tabs on the top to see the different recipes it’s used in .
For instance, you can get 6 Wooden Planks when you put a log into a Sawmill and provide it with energy (the red bar on the left).
You can left click on an item, or hover over it then hit U, to see all the uses for that item.
Again, on the left you have everything that can use those recipes, and on top you have all the different machines it can be used in.
You can see that Wooden Planks can smelt 1.5 items in a Furnace.
Recipes that use fluids will display the amount in mB, which stands for millibuckets. 1000mB is equal to one bucket of that fluid.
144mB is usually one ingot.
You can press the + button the the right of recipes to automatically move those items to their respective slots in the crafting table.
The text box at the bottom is the search bar. Type things in it to filter the item list. You can type @ followed by the mod name to filter to only items from that mod.
“@Botania” would show all items from the mod Botania.
You can also search for naturally spawning blocks to see where they spawn, see mob drops, plant drops, and dungeon loot.
Some recipes use something called the Ore Dictionary. This isn’t a block or item, but a mechanic to allow multiple items to work in place of each other in certain recipes. An example would be a machine needing ingotCopper, which would be a Copper Ingot from any mod. JEI will rotate through all items in the Ore Dictionary that will work with the recipe, and you can hover over it to see what it needs.
You can hover over items and hit A to save them to your bookmarked items, which will appear to the left of the inventory and stay there until you hit A on them again. You can temporarily hide the bookmarks by clicking the button at the bottom left corner.
The wrench button next to the search bar opens the config menu for JEI, where you can customize the mod settings as you like. If you are a server moderator or in a world with cheats enabled, you can hold control and click the wrench button to enable cheat mode.
In cheat mode, left clicking items in the item list will give you a stack of that item, and right clicking will give you one.
When you’re hovering over an item in your inventory or in JEI, you can see what mod it’s from under the name of the item.
