MrCrayfish’s Gun Mod (versions 1.19.2, 1.18.2, 1.16.5, and 1.15.2) is a thrilling addition to Minecraft that introduces a range of unique firearms, allowing players to combat adversaries and immerse themselves in an entirely new gameplay experience. This mod sets itself apart from other gun mods with its detailed models, stellar animations, and comprehensive gun selection. From simple pistols to destructive grenade launchers, MrCrayfish’s Gun Mod caters to all firearm enthusiasts.
Featuring nine distinct weapons, players can highly customize each firearm to create their unique variant. With the use of attachments and enchantments, users can enhance a weapon’s stats, resulting in a more powerful version. Players can also change the color of any weapon and attachment using Minecraft’s default dyes.
The mod is data-driven, meaning that to modify a weapon’s properties, players must use a datapack instead of the config file. This feature allows for seamless updates to the default weapon properties while maintaining the ability to customize as needed.
As of version 1.13.1, MrCrayfish’s Gun Mod supports addon creation, enabling users to develop new weapons, ammo, and projectiles with minimal coding. Interested developers can refer to the example mod provided by MrCrayfish and use it as a base for their addons.

NEW Scopes and Models
Welcome back to the gun mod update. It has been a while since I last released an update for this mod, but today I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. I have completely overhauled the gun models, and they look absolutely amazing. But that’s not all; we will also be exploring the new scopes and a few other minor additions. So, if you’re excited, let’s dive in!
Gun Shop
Let’s dive right into it. We need to make our way to the gun shop, I believe it’s called the Gun Shop. Unfortunately, we don’t have a vehicle, but hold on, let me see if I can summon a vehicle from somewhere. Ah, perfect!
If you need any help, just let me know. Here we are, let’s head out to the back now because they have something set up that I’ve been wanting for a very long time – an actual shooting range. Take a look at this, we have some bottles set up here. I’m not even sure what kind of drink is in these glass bottles, maybe apple juice? I’m not sure.
But we can actually shoot at these bottles. And when we’re done shooting, we can press this little button over here to reset the bottles on the pillars. So, let’s go ahead and shoot a few guns here. But as I mentioned earlier,
New Models
Let’s move on to the weapon models in this mod. We’ll go through them one by one. I have all the weapons stored in this chest here, but actually, we need to grab a few more things. I forgot to take out the scopes and silencers because they have new models as well. Let’s go ahead and grab those.
First, let’s take a look at the pistol. I have a little platform here where we can place the weapon to get a better look at it. Let’s zoom in right now. Take a look at that, guys. If you remember the previous models in this mod, you’ll notice that I’ve gone for a cleaner look this time. The textures are now concrete, although you may not have known that.
Many of the weapons now have angled surfaces. So, this is the brand new pistol. Let’s grab it and give it a test. One, two, three, four, five, six shots. Alright, we have to reset every time we miss. Let’s do this one more time. I won’t do this for every single weapon as it will take too long. Oh, well, we missed that one. But if you were paying attention, you would have noticed that the pistol now has a new firing sound. Let’s try it again. It’s a much more fitting sound for this weapon and quite satisfying, I must say.
Now, let’s move on to the next weapon, which is the shotgun. This one is actually based on the pistol, similar to the previous model. Let’s zoom in. We’ve eliminated the blocky look and added some angles to it. There’s also a handle at the bottom. This weapon is looking amazing now. Let’s give it a quick shot and see if we can hit the target on the first try. Oh, once again, that was embarrassing. We missed the first bottle, and it was the closest one too. I honestly don’t know how we missed that. Let’s not talk about it.
Assault Rifle
Let’s move on to the next weapon, which is the assault rifle. This weapon has undergone a significant rework and now has a really nice appearance. As you can see, it features curves, a clean look, and a beautifully designed grip at the front. The middle section looks great as well, and I’m not sure what that part at the back is called, but it adds to the overall amazing look of this weapon.
Moreover, you can actually customize the colors of these weapons in the gun mod. If you didn’t know, you can grab a dye and apply it to the weapon using a crafting table. This allows you to add colors to the weapon. For example, take a look at this yellow one. It adds color to the designated part and even colors a small section at the bottom of the handle, giving the model a more vibrant appearance.
Now, let’s test it out. Oops, I seem to be struggling with the targets. I’ll keep shooting until I hit the one on the top. Easy! Onto the next weapon.
Rifle
Next on the list is the rifle. Let’s place it on the platform here. Oh, so this weapon had the least amount of changes in terms of appearance. It mostly follows the new style we’re going for, where it looks less blocky and has cleaner textures. Let’s grab it and give it a few shots. It’s going to be easy. The cooldown allows us to set up our shots before it finishes. Boom! That was the rifle. Pretty cool, huh?
Azooka
Now, let’s move on to the bazooka. This thing is absolutely insane. First, let’s take a look at the model. Place it on the official viewing platform, as I like to call it. One thing you might notice is that you can actually look through this thing now. There’s a clear center where you can see through. Additionally, we have a 3D viewfinder. Previously, it was just a texture, but now it’s an integral part of the model. The overall appearance remains similar, with the new clean look and no more square edges.
Let’s go ahead and fire it in this direction. It’s going to cause some destruction. Eventually, I plan to revamp this area in the expanding Motown series. But for now, that’s the bazooka. Let’s head back and move on to the next change, the minigun.
Minigun
It’s really cool because the minigun looks completely different now. Take a look at this. The main change is the color scheme, with more gray involved. There’s a little pinstripe on the end, and we have added more angles, giving it a cleaner look. As I mentioned before, using concrete for the models in this mod has become my favorite style. They look so clean, and there’s a specific reason why I use it. But let’s not delve into too much detail here.
Okay, I’m back. Oh, I’m blinded. I can’t see a thing! Well, that’s the new minigun for you. Let’s move on.
Grenade launcher
The grenade launcher is the weapon that has undergone the biggest makeover, and it looks completely different now. In fact, it may be the best weapon in the entire mod. Take a look at it. The design is absolutely insane, and encountering another player with this weapon would not be a pleasant experience.
Let’s go ahead and fire it. We’ll launch a simple grenade over there. And that’s pretty much it for the model changes. There are some other changes that you may not have noticed. We have implemented a brand new recoil system. If you pay attention, you’ll see that when I fire the weapon, it tilts up instead of the view going upwards. This is a better change for the mod, as it eliminates the annoyance of the view constantly shifting upwards, especially with weapons like the assault rifle or minigun.
The recoil system varies slightly for each weapon. For example, with the pistol, it kicks back a bit. The assault rifle kicks back as well. The rifle tilts up a little and also has a slight kickback. The bazooka goes up a bit and also has a kickback. The minigun primarily has a kickback. And finally, the grenade launcher has a bit of kickback and a slight tilt upwards. I hope that makes sense.
New scopes
The next thing we’re going to explore is the brand-new scopes, and this is one of the most exciting changes in this update. I believe it’s one of the standout features of this update, to be honest. However, before we proceed, I’m going to quickly turn off the shaders.
The reason for turning off the shaders is that these new scopes won’t work as effectively if the shaders are enabled. Now, let’s grab the scopes and see how they look on actual weapons. We’ll try them on an assault rifle, a pistol, and a rifle. So, let’s attach the short scope to the pistol, the medium scope to the assault rifle, and the long scope to the rifle.
You might notice that they don’t look particularly different at first glance. However, when we take a closer look, there are some notable improvements. There’s now a gradient on the inside of the scope, and the red dot has been enhanced as well. The short scope is somewhat similar to the previous update, but the medium and long scopes have undergone more significant changes.
If you look through the scope right now, you’ll notice that you can actually see the world through it. In the previous update, it was challenging to use the medium scope since it obstructed much of the view. But now, you can see through it properly, aim accurately, and even utilize peripheral vision. The gradient effect is consistent across all the scopes in this mod.
Honestly, the medium scope has become my favorite now. Previously, I disliked it, but the improvements have made it extremely useful. The same applies to the long scope, where you can actually see objects in the distance. Let’s zoom in on that tree over there. As you can see, it’s visible through the scope.
Now, let’s zoom in even further. This scope has a remarkable zoom capability. Let’s see if we can spot something in the distance. Maybe we can spot Sir Pickles Bank over there. It’s easily visible with the long scope. This is incredibly beneficial for spotting and targeting players. Again, the medium scope looks fantastic with its improved functionality.
I’m really loving these new scopes. They add a whole new level of immersion and precision to the gameplay.
New attachments
What’s cool about attachments now is that they inherit the color of the gun. Previously, when you attached a scope or a silencer to a weapon, it would remain white, even if the gun itself was colored. However, now when you attach an accessory, such as a scope, it will be colored accordingly. This only applies if the scope doesn’t already have a color applied to it. For example, if you color a scope blue and attach it to an assault rifle, it will take on the blue color instead of inheriting the gun’s color. This is a nice change for the scopes, making them more immersive and enhancing the overall polish of the gun mod.
Moving on, we have the silencer, which also has a new model, similar to the scopes. Although I forgot to point them out earlier, let’s take a closer look at them now. We have the long scope, featuring a clean look with added angles, followed by the short scope, and at the back, we have the medium scope. They have been redesigned, adding more angles to improve their appearance. Now, let’s attach the silencer to the weapon. As you can see, the silencer itself has no color, but in the rendered version, it appears yellow because it inherits the color of the gun.
Let’s see how these scopes perform in action. We’ll use them to take some shots. Bang! There goes the target. Easy! The medium scope is working perfectly. Now, let’s try this one. Oh, that’s so satisfying. And finally, let’s test the long scope with some quick-scoping. Huh! Ah! That’s quite enjoyable.
I believe that concludes the changes and improvements in this update.
