Straw Golem Mod initially made by Fradige95, has been converted to latest versions of Minecraft as Straw Golem Reborn Mod by CommodoreThrawn. The Straw Golem is a new creature added to the game by this mod. The latter seeks to help you manage your plantations and therefore make your life simpler.

Plant and replant

Indeed, the Straw Golem will harvest your crops, and replant behind him. This affects all plantations in the game, as well as those in other mods. He will then drop what he has collected in a nearby container.

Assign a container to the Straw Golem: right click with an empty hand on the Golem, then right click on the desired container.

To create your own companion, nothing could be simpler. Stack a block of straw and a pumpkin!

Maintain your golem

The Straw Golem, although being self-sufficient, is not everlasting. His frail body deteriorates swiftly, and he does not live more than 7 Minecraft days (this figure is configurable). Also, lugging a really hefty block, being in water, or being in the rain all hasten the breakdown of the Golem.

Fortunately, you can restore your Golem with Wheat. 1 wheat extends your Golem’s life by 1/4 of a day (Minecraft day). For your Golem to survive a day longer, you will require 4 wheat.

How can you recognize if your Golem is about to come apart? All you have to do is stare at it. He will seem slimmer and more degraded as he gets older.

Feed the golem

Look no further, the Straw Golem loves apples. It will follow you everywhere if you hold one in your hand. But be careful not to let your Golem starve to death! If you don’t feed it, it will sit idle until you feed it. By default, Straw Golems become hungry every 2 Minecraft days, but this number is configurable.

Interactions

The author has made the Straw Golem integration more consistent with the rest of the Minecraft environment, in addition to its practical features. Iron Golems, for example, will occasionally grasp your Straw Golem out of curiosity in order to investigate it.

Nevertheless, the farm’s other residents are not always nice to the Straw Golem. Keep an eye on your pets! Some will gladly bite off a chunk of your Golem. Make sure it doesn’t fall apart. Additionally, keep your Golem safe during raids. Raiders will seek it, most likely to employ in their own civilizations.

As the author points out, the behavior of the Straw Golem can be largely configured. Here are the settings that can be changed:

• Lifespan and Hunger (modifiable or deletable)
• Decomposition accelerated by rain, water, etc. (removable)
• Plantation detection distance by the Golem (modifiable)
• Interactions with creatures (removable)
• Whitelist/Blacklist of certain types of plantations
