Are you sick of the way gravestones are added to Minecraft, do you want a simpler, more refined way to engage death in this game? The Gravestones Mod might be exactly what you want, because it allows you to access gravestones which will automatically spawn once the player is dead.
But this is not all that the Gravestones Mod 1.16.3 does, because it provides you with a great way to spawn cemeteries in some villages, even some catacombs. It is a spooky addition to the game, true, but one that manages to bring in front some interesting challenges as well.
For example, the Gravestones Mod Minecraft allows you to remind yourself about the lost companions or about your times when you got killed by a powerful enemy. These are staying on the server, something that makes the mod a true reminder of the gruesomeness and astounding gameplay that Minecraft can offer sometimes.
However, the mod also has some other uses, because this can allow you to find the location where you died last time. This means that you can use it to find those items that were lost when you died, something that’s truly helpful all the time. You can also find the lost XP thanks to them as well, which is a major plus since you can re-improve your gameplay based on this great info for sure.
You don’t have to kill any villagers, instead the stones will automatically appear randomly on the map.
This takes us to maybe some of the best parts about this mod, the fact that it generates a new area for Minecraft, one that is filled with dangers and plenty of dangers that you have to face. Filled with rare loot and loaded with lots of cool stuff, this is an amazing area that you need to peruse, and the results can be astounding. It all helps you further improve your Minecraft gameplay, offering new layers of entertainment and great experiences without a lot of investment.
It’s amazing how much content the Gravestones Mod 1.12.2 can actually offer, and the more you play, the more fun you can have with this one. There are plenty of strongholds, and most of them are filled with enemies that will further improve your gameplay for sure.
Of course, the gameplay can get pretty hard and violent, so it all comes down to the experience that you might have as a whole. It’s nice to see so much content and pure gameplay in this mod, so if you really want to access gravestones in Minecraft or engage plenty of powerful bosses, then this is something right up your alley for sure. You will love the experience and at the end of the day the outcome will be extraordinary for sure!

Since version 1.16.3-2.0.0 the grave is now able to store your items back into their original slots.
Everytime you die you get an obituary. If you don’t want that you can disable it in the config.
- The name of the player
- The dimension the player died in
- The date the player died
- The coordinates where the player died
- An image of the player with its equipment at the time of death
- A list of every item the player had when he died
If you don’t want to keep the obituary after you recovered your items, you can enable the automatic removal in the config.
Naming the Grave
If you break the grave with silk touch, you get it dropped as an item. You can also craft graves.
Naming the grave in an anvil, allows you to have custom text displayed on your grave.
There are several things you can change in the configs:
- The color of the text on the grave
- If the skull on the grave should be rendered
- Whether you want to get the obituary on death
- The blocks that can get replaced by a grave
- If the death note should get removed form the players inventory when breaking a grave
- If only the owners of the grave should be able to break it
- If a ghost of the player should spawn when breaking the grave
- If the ghost should be friendly and defend the player or if it should attack the player
- If the grave should get broken when sneaking on the grave
- If the items should get sorted back into their original slots when breaking the grave
Recovering Lost Items (1.16.3+)
If you somehow lost your items you can recover them with the recover command.
The syntax is
/restore <player> <death_id> <replace|add>.
player is the player whose inventory should get restored.
death_id is the ID of the death. You can find it out by enabling advanced tooltips (F3 + H) and opening the obituary. The death ID also gets written into the logs if a grave couldn’t get placed.
The last parameter defines if you want to get the players inventory replaced (Overwritten) or added (Just adds the items to the players existing inventory).
You can also get a pre made restore command by sneaking and right-clicking the obituary as an admin.
If you die inside a block, the grave is placed at the next empty space above your location. If there is no free block above your position, or you are above the build limit, your items drop as usual.
If you fall into the void, the grave is placed at the lowest point in the world where blocks can be placed. If there is no free space it will get placed at the next free spot above.
