Minecraft Born in Chaos Mod

Born in Chaos mod is a slew of hostile monsters, each with their unique set of abilities that may both diversify and complicate your survival. This mod created by mongoose_artist, aims to make the survival experience more difficult, by adding new monsters, but also randomly generated items, weapons, blocks and structures.  The mod not only works nicely with other modifications that introduce new biomes.

Also, it works really well with other mods such as Better Combat Mod. Surprisingly, there is a big number of mobs featured in this mod. Yet, violent mobs with distinct features may both enrich and complicate the survival experience.

The mod introduces a slew of new mobs. Everyone’s level of threat and danger is different. Monsters are divided into several sorts, including undead, spirits, arthropods, and creatures without a specific category. Because all mobs spawn in specified biomes, they are compatible with any mod that introduces new biomes.

The main change Born in Chaos brings is the addition of new creepy and evil creatures. A real challenge for budding adventurers! Although some seem harmless, others will give you a hard time. They are classified into three categories: Undead; Spirits and Others.

Undead:

Most undead take damage from sunlight and are vulnerable to enchanted weapons.

Decrepit Skeleton Decrepit Skeleton
  • Close to the base skeleton, it can only attack in melee. He is a basic and relatively harmless opponent.
Skeleton Bomb Skeleton Bomb
  • Close to the Decrepit Skeleton, it explodes after death and does not burn in the sun. Keep an eye on him so you don’t have any bad surprises!
Decaying Zombie Decaying Zombie
  • It behaves like a normal zombie and its attacks apply the Hunger effect to the player. If it takes too much damage, this zombie loses its flesh and turns into a Decrepit Skeleton.
Baby Skeleton Baby Skeleton
  • A childish version of the skeleton, very fast but causing little damage. He generally accompanies other monsters of which he is the servant.
Skeletal Imp (Bone Imp) Skeletal Imp (Bone Imp)
  • Close to the Baby Skeleton, it is present in the Nether, stronger and resistant to fire.
Zombie in Barrel Zombie in Barrel
  • Zombie stuck in a barrel. It spawns near bodies of water, cannot drown or burn in the sun, and has enhanced armor. By killing him, you will receive random loot, both useless and valuable items!
Door Knight Door Knight
  • This zombie equipped himself with what he had on hand. He is therefore very well armed: protection against the sun, improved armor, protection against ranged damage, and he can even block certain attacks with his shield. To prevent it from parrying, it will have to be set on fire!
Skeleton Thrasher Skeleton Thrasher
  • A formidable opponent although slow! It has enhanced armor, ranged attack protection, and can block certain player attacks. To prevent it from parrying, as with the Door Knight, it must be ignited. Be careful, the Skeleton Crusher’s attacks are powerful and push the player back a long way. He can also stun his opponent for a short time, preventing them from moving and attacking.
Bonescaller bonecaller
  • A skeleton armed with a magic scepter allowing it to attack from afar. His strategy is to keep the player at a distance by summoning minions (Skeletal Babies) to fight for him. To prevent it from summoning, simply ignite it.
Supreme Bonescaller Supreme Bonecaller
  • This monster is a mini boss! It appears on top of dark towers, randomly generated structures. Its powers are similar to the Bonescaller, but it can create a bone shield around itself to make it immune to ranged attacks. Additionally, he summons Skeleton Imps to fight. If the player destroys their shield, the Supreme Bonescaller becomes vulnerable to ranged attacks, but gains power and summons more minions!
Fallen Chaos Knight Fallen Chaos Knight
  • A dangerous enemy, equipped with very resistant armor that protects him from arrows and the sun. It also has increased movement speed, and places a Cursed Mark on victims it strikes. When the Cursed Mark disappears, the victim is then attacked by four Scarlet Persecutors who appear around it.

Spirits:

Spirits are a category of creatures that disappear in the light of day. Basic mobs fall into this category like blaze, ghast, phantom, allay, vex, etc.

Restless Spirit Restless Spirit
  • This wandering soul moves by flying. Each of its attacks hinders and slows down its victim’s movements. However, it disappears as soon as it is exposed to daylight.
Spectral Creeper (Phantom Creeper) Spectral Creeper (Phantom Creeper)
  • Although similar to the classic creeper in its behavior, the Creeper Spectral has a particularity of size: when it is injured, it splits into two copies of itself. Fortunately, it can only replicate once, phew! It can only be encountered in certain biomes, namely warped forests in the Nether (warped forest) and in the End.
Enchanted Scarecrow (Pumpkin Spirit) Enchanted Scarecrow (Pumpkin Spirit)
  • Like a golem, this creature is neutral and attacks monsters that approach its territory. It is possible to meet them in the farms. The Enchanted Scarecrow is very vulnerable to fire. If he comes into contact with this element, he will first be injured and then transformed into a Seared Spirit.
  • It is possible to make your own Enchanted Scarecrow by stacking the following blocks: 2 black oak logs, 1 straw block, and 1 pumpkin. Next, right-click on the pumpkin while holding the Ethereal Spirit item.
Seared Spirit Seared Spirit
  • This flaming scarecrow attacks the player and burns them. Although immune to fire, the Scorched Spirit is vulnerable to water, and suffers damage if it is submerged, or in the event of rain.
Dark Vortex Dark Vortex
  • This spirit sends blinding projectiles (blindness effect) on the player. Although it does not have a lot of hit points and its damage is minimal, it can be very crippling when attacking simultaneously with other monsters. Don’t underestimate him! It disappears once exposed to daylight.
Scarlet Persecutors Scarlet Persecutors
  • This spirit only appears to players affected by the Cursed Mark, when it disappears. It attacks its victims and can follow them by flying over great distances (150 blocks). When a player is hit by the Cursed Mark, they can hide in a narrow place to prevent the Persecutors from appearing.
Nightmare Stalker Nightmare Stalker
  • This creature is one of the most dangerous. The Nightmare spots the player from a long distance (40-50 blocks) and initially moves invisibly, only their eyes can be seen. To see it, you have to hurt it, but ranged weapons have no effect on it.
  • The Nightmare first lets out a scream that applies blindness to its victim, as well as wither and magical exhaustion. Additionally, Nightmare attacks regenerate his health, making him a formidable opponent. Fortunately, daylight makes it disappear.

Others:

This category includes other creatures that do not fit into the previous ones.

Firelight
  • This insect lives in the Nether and is immune to burns. His attacks ignite his victim. If an Enchanted Scarecrow is near it, the Firelight will seek to ignite it to corrupt it into Burning Spirit.
Diamond Thermite
  • The mod adds a new block, Infected Diamond Ore. If the player destroys one, Diamond Thermites erupt from the nearest ores to attack it. This creature has reinforced armor, and its attacks inflict the fatigue effect on the player.
Wither Strider
  • Similar to a classic spider, this creature inflicts the wither effect. She can also be ridden by a skeleton.
Terror Dog (Dread Hound)
  • These monsters appear in packs and attack all types of skeletons as well as the player, even if the latter does not attack them. However, the Terror Dog can be calmed down by giving him a bone. It will leave the player alone for a while unless the player attacks. Be careful, the packs do not disappear unless you kill them!

Recipes:

Items & Block

Bottle of Magical Energy
  • This potion allows its drinker to remove the magical exhaustion effect.
Dark Metal
  • This new metal is precious and rare, it can be obtained by killing monsters or in treasure chests. In order to obtain ingots from it, the pieces of Dark Metal must be melted down in a furnace. This metal can be used to create new weapons or upgrade netherite armor.
Smoked Rotten Flesh
  • The mod allows rotten flesh to be dried in the smokehouse, to make it edible without receiving the hungry effect. It is also possible to use the putrefied flesh in a compost.
Block
  • New blocks are also added by the Born in Chaos mod , to complete the environment. This includes new forms of bone blocks, black argillite and its deep variants, and scorched log.

Weapons

Staff of Magic Arrows
  • This weapon which does not require ammunition allows the player to shoot magic arrows at his opponents. As a last resort, he can use it as a melee weapon, but its damage is quite low.
Bonescaller Staff (Bonescaller Staff)
  • By right-clicking on a block, this stick summons two Skeleton Babies who will attack any opponent who is close to the player. They will disappear after one minute.
  • Beware, once this power is used, the player receives the Magical Exhaustion effect, which prevents them from using the ability of the staff again until the effect is dispelled.
Death Totem
  • The functioning of this item is similar to that of the Minecraft Immortality Totem. If the player receives lethal damage, they receive instant healing and the strength effect. In contrast, Death Totem removes saturation from the player and imposes the Magical Exhaustion effect.Be careful, the magic exhaustion effect prevents the use of the Totem of Death.
Scythe of Nightmare (Nightmare Scythe)
  • This melee weapon functions as a Nightmare attack. It inflicts the blindness effect, magic drain, the wither effect, and heals its wearer. The Nightmare Scythe is therefore formidable, but has a slow attack speed.
Great Reaper Ax
  • With this battle axe, the player enters a carnage effect (damage and increased speed). The effect is short, but the more enemies the player kills in a row, the more powerful the bonuses will become, until reaching the maximum level. Once this level is obtained, the next enemies killed extend the duration of the carnage effect.
Dark Ritual Dagger
  • This combat weapon has a fast attack speed, but not only! By right-clicking on a minion he has summoned (Skeleton Baby, Skeleton Imp), or on an animal (pig, sheep, cow or chicken), the player absorbs the vitality of this creature and heals himself according to his point of view.
Skullbreaker Hammer
  • A very heavy and powerful hammer. Each attack made while jumping or in the air knocks the opponent back and briefly stuns them.
Sharpened Dark Metal Sword
  • A weapon that deals more damage to undead (undead).
Spiritual Sword
  • Deals more damage to spirits, and removes the Magical Exhaustion effect from the player when attacking a spirit with this weapon.
Hayfork (Hayfork)
  • A weapon with no real special ability. It can be obtained by killing the Door Knight, but this is rare.
Dark Metal Armor
  • This armor can be crafted by combining netherite armor and darkmetal armor plates in a blacksmith table.
  • In addition to granting players defense bonuses, full Dark Metal Armor grants immunity to the wither effect, and when its wearer’s life is low, they receive the carnage effect (damage and increased speed).
